I know this has probably been asked before but here it goes...I have a 1992 Volvo 454...said to be 330HP...my gas dock offers 93 octane and lower...I always put in 93 because I guess it is the best for my boat but I have been told it may not be. Should I keep putting in 93 or not...it's not the money...I could give a s**t about spending a few more bucks on boating but is it better for the engine or worse?

I say burn what get you the best performance. It really depends on how Volvo calibrated the engine which octane fuel it will run best on. I had a 290 PQ with 454 Mag EFI's that would get 400 RPM better on the top with premium (93 octane) fuel. It ran fine on the 87, but got an additional 2 mph on the top with premium fuel A friend with a 502 Mag EFI in a 26 Velocity had similar experience.
Now the 500 EFI's in my AT were a different story. The top end was the same regardless of what I burned and the Premium would soot the transom.
