I was hoping some members could compare some different boats for us. The mrs wants a small cabin space. I doubt if a full cabin would be used. I personally like low free board, sit down boats. We'd prefer a single, but may be stuck with twins because we are shopping used. 70's would be acceptable, 80's would be preferred. I want a tough boat that will survive the offshore enviroment and is built well enough to not rot out or break up. You can expand on the list if you feel like it. Here's our list:
29 Kryptonite
28 Kachina
28 Active Thunder
288 Sunsation
28 Apache Brave
28ss Cigarette
27 Squadron
28 Pantera
I know that a bunch of you are going to say Fountain, Cigarette or Scarab. I'm sorry, but those are not on our list.

The 28 Cig SS is almost 20 years old. I'm talking about a modern Cig. There is no way I could afford one. I actually have a soft spot for the classic boats. If things work out correctly, we should be able to buy a older V for less than the trade value of our cat. The problem is going to be selling the cat. I have no clue what the boat is really worth.

How 'bout an older Formula? Those make a nice classic.

Sean, why don't you shoot me an e-mail on it. It looks like a bit more of a project than what I was shopping for, but I'm a sucker for projects. A couple of questions that need to be answered: is the interior complete? The drives, engines, gimbles and not included? What engines were in it? Is it just me or is the cabin missing the vinyl too? What is the distance between the transom and the first bulkhead?

If you like the classic low free board look, then it would be Magnum all the way. Here is one of the best out there for sale.

I'd be going Pantera or perhaps a 29 Laveycraft (if you can find a used one of those)
