The prop came in just fine! Thanks! A 30 used to be my good cruising prop. A 32 was the go-fast one. I figured a 28 would work good with 6 people in the boat. Boy, was I wrong! Proably needed 26. Never thought I'd see that much of a difference from a people load.
Yea, I broke on Saturday coming out of the cove. We made it around the corner when I lost total steering control. I knew what happened immediately and was quick on the stick. We idled around for a while trying to get somebody to give us a tow. Of course, few slowed down (even a couple of board members!
) A couple were even idiots and cut BETWEEN the boat that was trying to tow us and our boat! Morons. I want to say thanks to massive cruiser that pulled off plane. If he had gone by on plane we would have been swamped. As it was we took a couple of waves over the transom. Luckly the pumps were able to keep up. It looks like a clamp that supported the hydraulic steering line broke. This allowed the line to drop down into the jackshaft. A fitting caught on the universal joint and it separated. Viola! Instant steering loss. I'm glad I wasn't making a shootout run. I proably would have flipped.

Yea, I even have the fitting that stripped. I havn't looked at the hose end yet though. Hopefully that fitting is good. If it isn't I'll have to replace the hose.
