Default Idle step down kits

anyone familiar with idle step down kits from Sterling? the system kicks up the idle when shifting then brings it back down.....supposedly allows for a much lower idle speed

I think merc called it a interrupter when shifting .Not familiar with the Sterling but prob the same thing .You could do the same thing with a timing retard module retard the timing while shifting.

On my old Scarab with a Blower motor I would shift in the down cycle on the blower surge. It would go from 400rpn to 1400.it surged pretty bad

MSD makes them ,might be some trouble to wire up to activate it . I think the Mercury style would probably be better.I think they call it an interrupter

The motor had 11 pounds of boost and the surge would not clean up until 2300-2500 rpm. At idle in gear the boat would lunge forward on the up cycle of the surge .Every body thought I was doing it with the throttle. It was fun until I started going thru about 3 drives a year,Sold the boat kept the motor

These are standard on any late model Merc 900. The ones from Sterling are also from merc. They increase the idle for approx 1.8 sec when you shift into gear. Don't Know what Drive you are using, they are meant to be connected to the tranny, however they might work in a Bravo. They were about $1000 from Sterling, Competition Marine in St. Louis has them for about $650 their # is 636-946-1182.
