Hi guys...I'm a newbee here but a veteran Formula owner, I'm currently on my 3rd one, 1988 357 SR1. Love this big heavy mutha, Built two new 420's / 500s with consultaion from Dennis Moore. I was reading the older threads and I could swear I read that someone had modified there silent thunder box. Is there anyone with pics, I'd love to see them!

Yep....I modified mine on my 312......took the screws off and watched it hit the ground, then put on new straight tips.

this is rambunctious here.
take a look at my "specialized too for modifying slent thunder"
it has a drawing i created to show the mod. very simple fiberglass plat to cut some/all away to get strait through exhaust.
Itook my platform off but the pic here does not shoe the inside well enough. I will try to get one.

Waterfoul...this is just the pic I was looking for thanks buddy is your rig a 311? I would really like to see what that transom looks like with the platform out of the way. I have a new stainless platform but I'm not positive it is going to work. I have to keep the "D" rings above the new platform for my mooring tie up. We are on Lake Erie and we are susceptible to some pretty fierce surf that can at times come over the wall of our harbor.

Hey Joey -
If that new stainless platform won't work then please let me know - I've been looking for one for my '85 357. As you know prior to '87 there was no fiberglass silent thunder system. Here's what mine looks like with the old wood platform and here's another pic of a 357 with a tubular platform.

I know I confuse you guys, but this is actually Rambunctious.
I use waterfoul's logon cuz I'm too cheap to pay a picture seing membership..
anyway.. it is a 272.
here is the transom after buffing the gunk off. the yellowign from the gaskets seems to have penetrated the gel and wont come off.
last pic is why I need to fix my platform
