Default Lab props - Is it better to start with a bigger pitch or smaller pitch?

I am in the process of building a new boat. It is a 34' Shockwave (West coast builder) with twin 525EFIs. I went for a ride in a different 34 shockwave with 500EFI's over the weekend and the boat had 30" Bravo I props on it. With the 30" props, the max RPM was about 5000 and the boat was hitting about 79 MPH on GPS. With 28" bravo I props, the boat was hitting the rev limiter at about 81 MPH. from these results, it seems lilke the best props for the boat are somewhere between the 28's and the 30's. Any thoughts on what props would be a better starting point? I'm thinking that the 30" props could work better for me since I will have a little bit more power than the boat I rode in (525EFI's vs 500EFI's).

I'd try some std pitched test props first(no one lets you test labbed props unless its one of your buddys). If you put a pair of std 30's on and it is almost where you need it then you'll know 30 labs will do it,but if you try 30's and its almost or on rev limiter than you'll know 32 labs will work. My boat picked up 250 +/_ 50 rpm's and 2.5 mph with labbed 30 pitch over std 30. Your buddies boat sounds like it would work good with labbed 30's,Smitty

It is possible to be the in between pitch as well. Our propeller computer, allows us to create custom pitches. Whether it is a 30P to a 29P or even a 30P to a 29.5P . First you need to find the correct base propeller and then you can blueprint from there. Feel free to call me anytime.
