Hey Russ,

Ever see the cat watering porcelain fixture at the Hemmingway Mansion in Key West? Used to be a urinal in the old Sloppy Joe's Bar. Seems Ernie took a liking to it when they remodeled some years ago and brought it home one day. Maybe they could use your Silent Thunder platform!?

Actually with all our animals maybe we should use it in that manner.

My wife is not too happy I took it off but she can still dunk her feet in the water sitting on the back of the transom. Far as I'm concerned it's only dead weight and I hate the rectanglar exhaust tips. And the engine HAS to breath better with it off, despite what Formula would have us believe. I've done way too much screwing around with muscle cars and go fast bikes to believe it wouldn't hinder performance.

Interesting tidbit on the platform-less 311. I have the original catalog from 1987 when it was 1st introduced. The 311 is on the cover, and guess what - no Silent Thunder. Maybe it was a last minute decision, or it was going to be an option? I haven't finished unpacking, and haven't come across it, but I'll scan it and post the picture when I do.

In 89' the "Silent Thunder" option was around 5K. At least that's what Formula told me a couple of years ago.

Actually that looks like the picture. So my memory's a bit foggy, but I knew that they did show a boat w/o the platform. The 311 in that catalog looks just like mine, boat in color scheme, and the fact that it's ass heavy!
