Dry up the exhaust....

I have EMI manifolds with aluminum risers can I dry these up some? I'm worried if I switch to a roller cam I might have a reversion issue. If I make a stainless plate to take the place of the gasket without the water passages and plumb them like the tubular risers would it help? I know it would be better to run tubulars but its all about the cash......

Don, you need to have double wall stainless pipes that go all the way through your transom to go dry. If you have rubber connecting your tailpipes to through-hull tips, it'll melt like nothing. Any part of your exhaust that isn't cooled will get red hot.

Don,
What about installing the plate and plumbing like the tubulars as you mentioned plus adding a tee before the riser inlet. One side of the tee would have a restricting device(washer) to the riser where the other side would dump overboard. It would not be a totally dry setup, but would reduce the water to eliminate any possibilities of reversion yet enough to keep the rubber from burning.

Don I Had A Boat With The Same Exhaust, the Motors Where 454,s With 420hp Cams Water Reversion Was A Nightmare.had To Go To Dry Risers.i Took So Much Water Out With A Bypass That It Burned The Rubber.once The Rpm Went Under 800 At Idle Within Minutes The Motors Would Start Dropping Cylinders .so Those Risers With New Hose Are Hanging On The Wall In My Garage.
