Default Billet XR or Teaque Platinum XR

Has anybody got any experience with either the Billet Marine XR or the Teaque Platinum XR?

I've heard alot of good things about Max Machine Works in Lake Havasu City, AZ. I've heard alot of good things about Teague's drives also. I would probably stay away from Imco, being that they don't offer a warranty.

Go with the max machine worx,iv'e had good luck with them. As far as a warranty,i don't think ANY of the bravo derivatives have a warranty but IMCO refuses to even help so stay away from them!!!

Max is a great drive. I have a pair on my Fontinan, no troubles, and great customer service.

Max definitely has the advantage on the tower. There top cap is also good. They also offer a caged gear bearing that is .060 larger than the Merc XR non - caged bearing. They grind .030 out of the gear and put a -.030 bearing race on it. They still use an XR shaft. I do like IMCO's Pinion shaft so you save on the universal.

I had a IMCO blow up with 5 hours. This was after 75 hours, stock Bravo, with the same engine. They did not offer any warranty. It took out the tower on the Bravo. Max fixed that. I do not like the IMCO tower. Its probably the worst I've seen. It just pressed in.

I'm not sure of Teague yet. I have not had any apart or no anybody who has one.

Linster, are you talking about the upper gears(grind .030 out for bigger bearing). They USED to do that but the tradeoff on durability wasn't worth it so they leave the bearing bore in the xr upper gears stock dia,i know this because i broke one of the first xr gears they were modifying that way, even though they offer no warranty they admitted it wasn't a great idea and took care of me,can't beat their customer service,Smitty
