Default Fuel Filter Danger

I've got a pair of EFI MarinePower bigblocks in my SR357. On the fuel pump assembly opn hte back of the intake manifold, there is a fuel filter (cannister like) that is under high pressure. I replaced them with Deutsch automotive fuel filters. One them SPLIT along a seam from one end to the other. The "mechanic" said the problem was that an equivalent marine fule filter is made of stainless and the automotive is made of aluminum.

I question that "opnion" but the thing sure split and was spweing fule everywhere.

Can anyone else comment?

I doubt it made a difference if it was made of stainless or aluminum.
Where the real difference may lie is in the operating pressures. Are they the same between automotive and marine EFI systems?
If so, then I'd say the filter was defective. If not, then you know not to use an automotive part again.

Sounds like a defective filter. Always carry a spare.
