Off Topic: Franchising - Any insights?

I'm losing my job after 15 years due to workforce reductions. I'm in the PA. area and thinking about getting into a franchise. I will be meeting with a Franchise broker at the end of the week.
Anyone have any experience in franchising? What should I look out for? Any recommendations on good franchises? Keep in mind, I'm not rich. And forget subways, there's a million of them around here.

I agree with yss...Culvers is doing very well. I'm sure with most fast food type franchises you'll need a significant amount of savings before they'll even think twice. Many companies have their franchise agreements/requirements listed on their website. Another one I would love to open myself if I had the $$ would be Papa Murphy's Pizza. Not sure how regional they are but it's a pizza joint where you make the pizza with the freshest ingredients and wrap it for the customer and they take it home and bake it themselves.
