Cool Who's the best in Marine NOS

I can't afford a blower, but I want to stay ULTRA reliable and O-U-T of the engine.

Intake and exhaust are O.K. but I want to stop there for now and enjoy my new hot rod.

So who are the go-to people for NOS kits?

Same guys you'd use for automotive N20.

They don't make a bottle big enough though for the way you want to run it.
They go thru lots of juice in a boat.

Pay me now (for a blower)
or
Pay me later (at the bottle refiller).

But a bulletproof nitrous motor costs just like a blower motor.

don't run NOS. It does nothing for a boat. Theres to much resistance in the water for a 5-20 second burst. All you'll be doing is rolling the dice. Save your money and look for a Procharger or if you have the room under the hatch a Roots blower works great. It will be cheaper in the long run.

Merry Xmas

Problem with NOS on a boat is you have to prop your boat to run fastest/optimal with the NOS at full blast at full throttle. You are only going to do that maybe 20 seconds a a time, so when you are at full throttle no NOS, you are not using the right prop. Its useless on a boat unless you are already running 1000HP and intend to juice it only for radar runs.

If your running nitrous with cast pistons you are asking for trouble.

you would not be able to hang with the big boys very long with the nitrous. You would have at most a quick blast, and then get passed by a blown boat. If you're lucky , you won't break anything in your first few runs. I think a big motor is the way to go. I'm going to build a 540 bowtie. I have all the pieces. I will build it so I can add a blower if I want to. I was going to build a 496 but would rather use the 4.25" crank I have in a better setup. My buddy has 2 572's naturally aspirated in a 38' kevlar scarab 720hp ea. Boat goes 90mph. and is reliable BBB......

You cant afford a blower but think you can afford spray? haha.

You have to prop big so at wot while spraying you are at optimum rpm. Which means you play hell getting on plane, or have to tap the button a few times.

Seen 454 boats go through 3 20lb bottles in a weekend. Adds up fast. Buy a blower.

i worked on the unlimited hydros with a RR Merlin V12 (1750ci) the boat had 4 120# bottles that would last 5 or 6 laps , every heat one guy would change bottles........i think it put out about 3500 hp

As stated the problem with nitrous on a marine application is going to be propping the boat. You have to prop it so you won't run over your RPM range with the additional torque, and HP of the nitrous. At that point the boat will not perform as well when you're not using the nitrous.

The only times you'll really see a benifit using nitrous on an outdrive boat would be if you have extremely big props. You can use the nitrous for a hole shot. Outdrives just love this , or if your engine is capable of running SAFELY at a higher RPM than you normally turn it. i.e. if you turn your engine 5800 max, but its OK to 6500 you could use the nitrous for short blasts in a run.
