defect in the Merlin III block Has anyone seen any defects
There is a break through from the drilling operation on the inside main bolt hole on the #2 main between cylinders 1 and 3. The drill depth broke through the main web and is visible as a small oblong hole in the web at the bottom of the cylinder bore.

I had a casting flaw in the fuel pump pushrod bore. Drove me crazy for a month. Had water in the oil every ride. Checked everything. Finally started taking every piece apart & pressure test individually. Pressure tested each side of the block seperately & water came out of oil pan (oil & plug were out). Had to tear it down completely deliver it to world & they fixed it. Needed new brgs, complete reasssembly etc. Thanks goes to the machine shop for taking care of most of it. Only thing world did was sleeve the hole. And the sleeve was too tight & had to be honed.

Wow ! What kind of aholes do they have working at the factory !
I know this is the factorys fault, but the person assembling the engine should have examined the bores better. I've taken apart several gm motors that ran fine. Found badly mis-stamped rocker arms, even a mag motor, with a rod journal that had a wide line across it due to not enough metal in the forging , This is crazy. World should go above and beyond to make you the customer satisfied. What kind of company that casts and sells new blocks that you pay big $$$ for, thinks they can make good by giving you a sleeve job. World should investigate this and find out who was on that shift when the block was machined, and discipline, and or drug test them. I have'nt heard bad things about dart , and was going to buy dart until I got a deal on a bowtie block. That really sucks. I feel for you guys . I'm sure there has to be something good about World though.... BBB
