Rob, I just bought an XZ from sterndrivespec, this was one of four mounted ona big cat with 750 HPx4. The boat was running in the 130's,multiple passes, don't recall the exact figure. the XZ's would not live in this ap so the guy bought and installed the bmaxes- dropped 10 mph, same conditions multiple passes. I've heard figures like consumes 50hp in single applications. They do seem to be reliable though. Good luck.

We've run 950 h.p. through Imco Xtreme drives with no problems. These drives usually bring gains in speed because of the changeable X dimension, and are only around 7,000$$$. Total Marine, Slidell, LA 985-649-9888 has the drives in stock and can give interested parties test results from various applications.

The new Extreme Advantage in polished w/coat of clear, from Eddie in Slidell, La is 9k, these guys are straight up and honest, thats where Im going to get my Thunder serviced.

Does anyone know if this drive is better than the xr, what are the advantages need to pick out a drive for my boat, and Bmax is a consideration even with the 4-5mph loss, boat will have twinn 750hp Cobras.

i know the unit is stronger, but ive heard its not as efficient,
the only thing i can think is the larger gears and bearings but dont think it would be that much differance?the gear ratios are not the same as merc so there will be diff in props, prob cant do a real world compareson back to back exchange to find out speed diff? i figure most people up grade motors and drives at same time ,so dont see loss if any ,

Isnt the Imco extreme advantage sc almost as strong and 2300. less. The B-max uses a Imco lower anyways, has a nose cone. What really is the difference, does anyone really know since they have only about 20 units out there at this point. Any help would be appriciated.

I've used both drives, Bmax and Imco SC. I switched to Imco because of its high efficiency, much more than BMax. Both are equally as strong, and use the same lower in most cases. Interested parties can email me with any questions. [email protected]
