Not sure?

I think I have a little over 240 hours on my 1989 Mercury 200hp. Still just as strong as day one, but I baby my motor and flush it every time with that de-salt stuff.

I have heard of as much as 1500 hours before a rebuild?

This question is pretty broad...
I have seen 800 hr engines that are tired out..
On the other hand... The local POlice just retired one set of '04 DIs with 5600hrs...yes 5600. They troll 85% of the time, 10% at WOT...

Every motor is different too. New technology engines are designed for several thousand, not several hundred hours... We use the ICOMIA scale of usage to design for longevity...

Current two stroke OBs will outlast current 4 stroke OBs by 10 times.......

Compression check, leakdown test is all it takes ..They run a LONG time
You know they need a rebuild when they explode
