Grease Fittings On Your Bravo 1 Housing
#1
This Has Worked Very Well. I Put Them In 3 Years Ago. I Drilled The Lower Right In The Middle Of The Press In Wear Bushing. The Upper I Drilled Threw The Center Of The Casting Where The Small Wear Bushing Go's.( Drilling From The Bottom Up) I Used The Press In Grease Fittings With Red Lock Tight. Press In Grease Fittings Come In Two Diameters, I Used The Smaller One So If Something Would Go Wrong I Could Use The Bigger One. Using My Stainless Shafts & Grease I Have Had No Problems In 3 Full Years Of Running. The Only Reason The Seals Go Bad Is There Made Of Steelnot Stainless The Steel Will Begin To Rust And The Rust Takes Out The Seal. Also When The U Bolt Stretches And The Gimbel Starts To Move Around This Will Take Out Your Swivel Shaft, seal, and All Your Wear Bushings. This Is Why Mercury Recommends You Re Torque 3 Times A Year.no More Than 53 Ft Lbs Of Torque Or U-bolt Will Stretches You Can See In My Photo's How It Will Look On The Boat.

Thats Something I Thought About But Never Checked Out. Ill Look Into Tensile Strength And See. We Use H-900 Heat Treat On The Swivel Shafts. It Might Work On U-bolts, It Will Take A Couple Of Months To Mfg. And Run Tests.
