Default Anyone know a good boat mechanic on Grand Lake in OK?

Recently moved back to the Tulsa, OK area and am looking for a good boat mechanic to do normal maintenance (dewinterize, etc.) on my 2003 27' Fountain. Don't have a trailer, so needs to be close to or on the water.

Also am considering adding a ProCharger, so if anyone knows a good hi-performance shop in the area please let me know which shop and who to contact.

Thanks in advance.

As far as dewinterizing, as long as your last mechanic reinstalled all the plugs, all you need to do is top off fluids and run the boat.
What engine do you have?
A lot of people from Grand Lake use Derebery Performance Marine. They can supply you with a trailer. For a supercharger, i would go with the Vortech. Derebery as a lot of boats out there with the Vortech system on them with very good results. Good luck. www.dereberyperformancemarine.com

ExcaliburHawk40,

Thanks for the quick reply. Really was looking for someone to change the drive oil, oil, filter, etc. Easy stuff I'd usually do myself, but I'm too busy to do it right now and the boat's coming up from Austin on a transport. Was hoping to get the work done before the boat goes on Grand, but need a shop I can trust. Any of the marinas? CYC? Arrowhead? Would love a suggestion from a fellow OSO'er.

On the supercharger, unfortunately my boat is a 496HO, so I think Procharger is the only one that will fit without cutting up the back of my back seat. Trying to decide on supercharger vs. repower vs. step up to a 35'.

Had a cruiser on Texoma for 4 years, so am familiar with Dereby in Pottsboro. Just was wondering if there was anyone closer to Tulsa.

Thanks again.

I also vouch for Danny. He is honest and will be very reasonable on prices.

Just over there a couple of weekends ago and he is staying busy.

6th for Danny

You just have to learn his scheduling...

If you need it by Friday, tell him you REALLY need it on the prior 'Tuesday' and its done on Thursday night.

Really, he pretty good at completing his stuff on-time.

Welcome to Oklahoma. Coming from Austin you must have played on Travis. I hear that's a great lake. Looks like you got plenty of good advice on a mechanic around Grand. As for your supercharging vs re-power vs upgrade to a 35... go with a 35 if you can, or a 38 for that matter.

Like most, I've made those steps. I supercharged (whipple) my first boat and found I needed to be a mechanic (which I am NOT) to keep it running right. I think it also cost me some $'s on resale. Several guys stepped away after seeing the blower. The next boat I re-powered from a 454mag to HP500 which worked out well and helped on resale. Finally I bought the boat I wanted, 35' Fountain with 525's and hit 92 on the GPS last summer. Problem is, now I want 100! I guess it will never end... at least I hope not.
