In 2003, GM sent out press releases on their Vortec 8100 (496 cu. in.) Marine engine with 525 horsepower. It was dubbed the "HP3". It's now 2005, and it is still nowhere to be found on their website. It seems Mercruiser didn't wait around, and is using the good 'ol 502 for their 525. Anyone know what happened to the 496 HP3?

I'm pretty sure that Dhlaw just put a pair in his race boat. Maybe he will chime in here.

Any boater who is interested in a 525HP + 496 engine should visit our website or call us toll free @(866) 496-8181. We have all the parts and pieces to build any HP level for the 496 up to 1200HP and we have several 496's in various levels and stages now and our signature crate motors are available now . We are displaying right now at the LA boat show and the response has been incredible! Raylar is the "House of 496"
