top end rebuilds for 500rfi and 496ho ?
#1
from what I've read it looks like normal maint. to rebuild the top end of a 500efi @200hrs , does the 496 ho require the same thing or are they not prone to as much maint. ?

500efi rebuild??? no just need to change the valve springs at 200-250 hours,
I changed mine at 275 and had a broken inner spring and didn't know it, ran perfect. So yes chane the springs.

Correct,,, 500HP-EFI you should look at valve springs every 200-250 hours.
496 does not fall into thta category.

Don't think that 500efi is faulty because of the springs,, any high performance motor over 200-250 hours need this done, some real high HPs need it done every season. Its just what you want, more HP is going to be more maint.
