I'm in the process of changing my steering hub i got a 3\4" hub, but it don't go all the way down on the steering shaft. their is about a 1\2'' gap between the hub & the steering helm. will a 7\8" hub fit better or be to big? this is a marine machine helm. im going with a 4" extenson.. i dont like this gap, anyone had any experance with this? thanks

if you have a 3/4 taper on a 7/8 taper, then you may end up with this problem. if it is could also be a safety issue. do you know the length of the hub adapter and the shaft size. also i'm sure bing from m&m can help .

If you are sure you have the correct hub for the shaft and it is seated properly you could make a 1/2'' spacer to go between the backside of the dash and the helm pump

the small adapter stem that goes between the actual helm pump and the back side ofthe, that protrudes through the actual dash board, comes in either 3/4 or 7/8. hence bing from marine machine can help. if not and you actually need a one off piece, give me a call. can probably make it for you. either way good lucki
