I started tearing down my engine because of a spun bearing and found parts of bearing(?) in the lifter valley.
How could this get there? My only thinking was the crankshaft thowing it up there. One of the strangest things I have seen in a while. I can not wait to see whats in the bottom after I take off the pan.

Still does anyone have an idea how chunks could make it to the top of the engine? I don't think they came through any oil lines

the oil pump? during cold start the oil filter buypass opens often when oil pressure is high and engine oil cold unless your not running a bypass. most internal engine parts are lubed via oil thrown off the crank and rotating assm, so that would be my guess.

do post pics of the crank and rods big end when you get it torn the rest of the way down

You could say I bypassed the oil bypass. I hooked up the oil lines backwards resulting in no oil going through the filter
Before I found it, it was to late the damage was done. I am installing an oil temp gauge
It will be later in the week before I get the rest of the engine apart.

When an engine starts to disassemble itself the crank rods and cam sling parts from the bottom toward to top through the opening in the lifter valley and it's not uncommon to see pieces that do not belong in there. It's very important if your not sure if the lines are correctly installed to make sure you get them right because if you run them back wards you can damage the engine again just remember out of the block into the out fitting of the filter out of the center of the filter into the oil cooler out of the cooler into the center inlet in the block .
