This isn't a classified ad, I just came across a 1987 Scat Cat in NH that is for sale for $4000/BO. The price seemed high, but the boat is apparently near mint and has no issues. He said he'd throw in the motor too. It's a cool boat, but just seems like a lot of money...Is it a "deal" or is it too pricey? Any suggestions? Also, Can anyone tell me more about these boats? I can't seem to find anything via Google...heres some pictures of it (again, this isn't a classified ad, its just a boat I thought about buying and am looking for more info on it) Thanks! Matt

That thing is just like those 'Addictors' and the little 13' Schiada's they used to sell. I had a 11' addictor and it was a BLAST! Wish I didn't sell it. I'd say that boat right there is worth somewhere between 2500-3k. 4k is a bit high. By the way, those style boats are ROUGH on the back. You sit flat in the hull with your feet directly out in front of you so they don't take any of the shock away.
It also looks like a splash hull of those little skaters they built years ago. Sweet little boat.

Seems like an awful lot of $$ for that boat. If I recall, someone on the OSO board had Al Copeland's Diet Coke Special pit boat which was one of those mini-cats. It was painted the same as his Cougar 50. BMT for around $1100. The guy was in TX.

YO MSCRUTON...That hull was designed by Renalto Molinari & is an EXCELLENT hull design...I set one up for my kids w/a properly tuned/propped & dialed in 25hp Johnson & gps'd it at 34.4 mph...Weight/balance is KEY...If that boat has no transom cracks/issues, $4000 is a tad high by $500 but if it is in good shape & you really want it, lowball the offer & see where you end up...Mine/my kids looked like a mini skater rippin across the water...tookool...I paid $3200 (carbon copy of the same boat your pix show..btw), 6 years ago...There aren't many left out there btw........

There is a company building them new in the Midwest.I can't remember the name but they bought the molds from Baja. They also build duck boats.

Tizbad has one. He paid $500.00 for it with no motor. It's not very fast, and doesn't ride that good. It's more of a novelty boat. If your looking for something more fun buy a mini jet boat.

Thanks for the feedback received so far. My sense was that it was overpriced too, but I'm new to fast boats (I have a canoe right now). Its a neat looking boat though, but I guess not a comfortable riding one. I don't go to many smooth lakes, and questioned how this would handle. Is the boat fairly rare or collectible? I searched the internet looking for info, which lead me to this site (which is awesome!)
