hi guys, just uncovered and cleaned up the boat so i can show it off to anyone who is interested in a 201 1990 four winns liberator. but anyway, i have a question. i am looking at a 280 zt checkmate with a 496 mag. now ive looked all over to try and find out as much as i could about this boat. the problem im haveing is that everyone with this boat and set up come up with really really different top speed numbers. ive heard from 84 to 72. im going in the middle and saying on a good day it might hit 67.
my question is how can you get 5 more mph out of this boat and motor. i would love to buy the raylar kit but thats a little high in cash for me . i wish the boat had the ho but it doesnt and i would like to know if i could get more mph for lets say 3k.
also let me know if you guys think this is a good boat.

Check with Arizona Speed, I know they make a intake kit for these as well. Not real sure on there price though. The exhaust is a good thing to change also if you dont have a lot of $$ to spend. I dont know any HP gains from the exhaust change but someone might.

I know sombody w/ that boat and the mag motor,, even ran the boat myself,, runs right around 64-65,, I suppose w/ light fuel, light load it may do 67..
There is no way 20 hp is going to give you 3 mph,,, probably not even 2...
Prop, I would say,, 24 bravo 1..

That's the same marina that I picked my boat up from. Private deal though so I coudn't tell you if they are reasonable to work with.
For what it's worth, they did deliver my boat as promised with no drama.

BTW, what motor and prop right now?
