Default Engine Hatch Hinge Opinion

I have a stinger 222 in which I am redoing the interior. I ditched the 5 piece sunpad and am in the process of building a one piece 4'x6.5' sunpad. I can't figure out whether to mount the hinges underneath the hatch or on top like in this picture (same type of hinges i bought). Anyone have any opinions on this matter one way or the other?

I went from your exact hinge setup to under the hatch hinges. Your feet will thank you...

It will also give your hatch project a very 'clean' appearance. Post some pics when you have it done!

Good point about feet! I hadn't thought about that and was leaning towards mounting the hinges on the outside for the reason that you could pull the pins easier to completely remove the hatch for better engine access. Maybe underneath really is the way to go.

In regards to the hydraulic hinges, i'm selling the boat this season, so i want to upgrade it, but not break the bank doing so. Moving up to a new 30' next year (superboat, kryptonite, or something else along those lines...still researching).
