Thanks for looking guys but my search is over. I bought a 2003 today with 48 hrs. It has a 496ho. I was told it should run 68-70 mph is that true? also I do have a few other questions for someone. It has a 24 4 blade prop. What is the sweet spot for the rpm, also I already know after a short time I will have to put more power to her. I would like to be in the high 70's or 80mph. Possible whipple or pro charge or is there something I can do to modify this motor to get there? Will I have issues with the drive? Anyone else on here with past experience? Also it only has a cock pit cover and I would also like a mooring cover. This one has a zipper on the front of the cover. Can I add to it?
Thanks Marc

Whassup,
I use to race in a 28 Sunsation a few years ago in "E" Class, 502 415 horsepower. The boat was totally stock and would run in the high 60's. Power was later pumped up to an HP 500, speed was in the mid 70's.
Hope this helps.
I see your from Albany, I'm originally from Clifton Park, where do you boat, Lake George?
Good Luck!

You can buy the bow cover from Sunsation.
As for your drive, once you up the power, its only a matter of time before it fails. You may get a summer, or you may get three. Who knows, but it will fail. Going to an XZ would be ideal, or upgrading the drive some other way. Lots of options out there.
That prop sounds about right, I would also try a Labed 26. Thats what I run infront of my 500.
Enjoy.

Congrats!!! I had a 2002 with the 496HO/B-4 24p combo, and consistently got a tad over 68-68-5 on gps. During the hottest time of year, it would slug out at around 67.5 depending on load. The very best I got on a chilly day lightly loaded, was 69.2 again on gps. Very strong and agile boat for a stock single "black" motor in what anyone else would call a 29 foot boat. I loved mine enough to buy a 32 with twin 496HO's only becuase of the consistent snotty water we have down here in the southern ChesBay. Again congrats and here's to an exciting summer of boating....
The Whipples with conservative PSI and their ECU mod should get you an extra 12-15mph out of her without trashing the motor. Plus Raylar is sqawking loud about thier new intake manifold setup for the 496's...

Congratulations. I think you will love the boat. I know you will love the support from the factory. Here is their web site http://www.sunsationboats.com/
Go look around then call the factory and ask for Dave or Joe. Introduce yourself as a new Sunsation owner. They will answer all your questions, take care of getting you the matching bow cover that zips on your cockpit cover and anything else you want.
As far as drives, I don't think Merc makes an XZ anymore, so if you upgrade to Merc my guess is you would have to go to XR. I also think that boat is light enough that the bravo will last you awhile if you know the do's and do not's of getting in and out of the throttles, even with a power upgrade.

Thanks everyone I'm excited, I always liked sunsation ever since I saw a 32' at the Alexander bay poker run we were in 2 years ago. It looked sweet catching air. I'll try and run her stock as long as I can maybe I'll make it a season and maybe not. A whipple is awful temping, Anyone on her have one? Does it fit without modifing to much?? Heres a few pictures

very nice. On the 32s with 454s or 502s you had to screw around with the back seat a bit to get the room for the whipple. Not sure about the 496s. Another question that I am sure the guys at the factory may be able to answer.
