Default Blow-boat blows down in SF

What these guys where thinking to cut the corner under the Gate here I just don't know..... It's so shallow and has huge rollers coming through, I always stay well clear. Too many folks under-estimate just how rough the water gets in the Bay and under the Gate.

Cool pictures. Looks like the blowboat held up pretty well after the pounding it took. I guess powerboaters aren't the only one's that act irresponsibly.

It's stepped when it's ON the boat....

Don't worry, you're don't need to know blow-boat rigging terminology.

I understand they salvaged the hull. I'm headed over to Svensens' where they towed it in and hauled her. I'll takes some pics.

Not enough spireance in Darrels terms.

Never got near there but when we first got our 29' boat it seemed real big compared to the 20' we had. Went to an offshore race in the bay had a great time. After the race thought what the hell lets run out underthe bridge!!! Well we get underthe bridge the 3' chop got bigger to say the least. The wifes crawling out of seat hollering for me to turn around. Couldn't right away waves too big and had to get out futher to turn around. Bottom of the troughs all you could see was water. We got turned around OK and made it in just fine but the wife was not happy and I got the don't so that again look.

Scares the chit out of everyone the forst time through the potatoe patch. Those tidal swells can get pretty big even inside the Gate. I've been on the Bay in a 56' Ketch with rollers breaking all the way down the deck. Fun if you're into it!

even the surf hates sail boats.

Now if it had a couple of big blocks could have always gotten out of there before the sh*t hit the sail.
