Triple OB's?

Couldnt you cut the mids of the outside motors to
match the middle motor to avoid the abuse it takes?

They used to mont the center motor higher on the race boats to try and get it out of the way alittle more.

Re: Triple OB's?

You can't use 15in mids on the 32's because the powerhead will practicaly be in the water thats why all the 32's have 20in mids. Also the outside motors are not the one that take the abuse its the center motor that takes it. Theres nothing that can be done for the center motor. What I have been thinking is to get all the gears in the lowerunits kryoed it should help alotttttttt.

I meant the middle, just worded funny.
Help me understand.
If shorter mids are meant to raise the X dim why would
or how would that affect the height of the powerheads?

Re: Triple OB's?

If you look at a 32 not a 28 you will notice that the exhaust is about 2in over the water at a stand still. If you would put a 15in mid on a 32 it will lower everything 5 in and the cowling will almost be touching the water. On a 28 its a different story but you can't use 15in mids on a 32. Its the way the boat sits or even when your idleling.

Re: Triple OB's?

So basicly shorter mids are for smaller boats with
smaller profiles.

Re: Triple OB's?

No it all depends on the boat and the design the 32 has a very tall transom and thats why you need the xtra 5in of mid.
