What is your prop slip?
 

I read were a big Skater can have from 7% to 10% slip and a small Skater can have 4% TO 6%. I'm at 10% to 11%[sucks] Wondering what other people are seeing.

Don't put in your mph put in slip then calculate. Fine the slip that gives your mph.

6% on my 28 with X's. With some weight out of the boat and better conditions I could probably get it lower. This was during a couple speed runs on flat fresh water against a current.

Best I have ever run was 8%. 6% is really good!!!

Are you running jack plates? My numbers got a lot better after I put the jack plates on the boat and went with the external P/U's.

I am running 5.5" back. Right now I can not go much higher than 1.75" above the bottom due to water psi. I have a few things to try to bring my slip down. But, 6% is about the best I have heard. Did you have fuel in the boat when you did that? Normally in the summer with weight, passengers and gas I run around 10%.

I am running 1.75" above the bottom as well and could probably go to 2", but I don't want to give up any handling when turning.

We were running in the fall on the upper river part of Lake Havasu so the temp was about 80 and we had about 1/2 tanks of fuel and some other crap in the boat. Ran 117 that day against about a 2mph current, and without the extra weight in the boat I am sure it would have topped 120. I was running 33" 3 blade Merc cleavers turning 6500 rpms.

We really did not go out that day for a speed run, but I decided to make a couple of passes because it was the last trip of the season. I need to go out some time without the weight and see what it will really do.

The boat ran 115 with 4 people in it, 3/4 tanks, a cooler and some other crap about a month ago on some better water. I am happy with the number I have seen.

I have no doubt if the boat is setup right it will run over 120. I just saw Skaterjim run 120.3 with terrible conditions, he is also running 300x's. Its hard to beat a 28 Skater :D :D
