I can not imagine Mercury doing anything high performance with O/B. I guess we will see.

but then again I would settle for my 300XS to run... :(

Heard of a 400 HP turbine O/B diesel that weighted 380lbs on another site. I have heard Merc is planning something along the lines of a 350xs

JIMKID Motorsports 10-15-2007 06:59 PM

Now that the 30' program is in high gear, an interesting package would start with this building block:

2008 30 LS7? Is this what you had in mind with the LS7?

JIMKID Motorsports 10-24-2007 12:21 PM

no actually were are going with the world products aluminum tall deck block we can get 480 cubic in small block out of it nice motor dry sumped

Let me guess:

9.500 deck height
4.125 bore
4.50 stroke
6 in rods
1.250 compression height pistons

or maybe
6.125 rods (serious park time)
1.125 compression height pistons

What kind of RPM and power are you hoping to get?

I guess CMI can make exhaust?

JIMKID Motorsports 10-25-2007 07:33 PM

around 650 6500 rpm actually i am going to talk to you rik about drives

Rik 10-25-2007 10:11 PM

That was the direction we were going to go with in the 30', Sterling 800's small blocks.

The fuel requirement killed the deal though, but 8500 rpm sounded like a cool idea at the time.

Your plan will work better fuel wise and rpm wise.

JIMKID Motorsports 10-26-2007 05:57 AM

thats the thinking make them bullet proof should get some good fuel milage and still have enough grunt to play with and the weight was the big factor with the 30

Ahhhhhhhh. Forgot about the weight issue. 6K dry sump motor---------YES.

ROTAX454 10-26-2007 07:08 AM

Don't forget about using that Kinsler Injection system. A big YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
http://www.kinsler.com/page--GM--17.html

I know that guy that does all of the polishing for Kinsler. He did all of my aluminum polishing. You have to see it to believe how good he can make it look. A friend of mine had his GM BBC EFI plenum polished. Looks Awesome.

I spent 10 years doing small block chevy, race motors. I guess stuff just leaks out.

Frankie still talks about the day last spring when you stood on your head, on the deck of my boat.

We all remember all of your help during those early weeks when the Skater was first delivered. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
