28 skater motors set up

From asking in this forums I learned that the motors on a 28 should be 51 inches apart . What would happen if I separate them a bit more, let´s say to 53 inches apart?? What´s the principle behind the motor separation distance? anyone know?
Thanks for this great forum¡¡¡:Score-101010:

Send a message or email to JIM KID Motorsports on the OSO board. He has done alot of set up work with Skater.

what you do by spreadig the motors more is in theory is lower the boat in the the water increasing the wetted surface. cuasing more drag so why would you want to do that there is always a trade off. you get nothing for free. also what happens is you move the the center line c/g away from the center and in the rough stuff cause more bobble side to side. thats why i went to 15 inch mid sections on my 28 to get the weight lower to eliminate some of that side to side bobble in the rough. hope that helps my 3 cents worth skater has found the happy medium right where they set them up good luck jim :food-smiley-007:

Thanks a lot guys, I knew I would get great answers. I guess I will keep my current parameters and not mess with anything else. This quest for more top end never stops ¡¡¡

I am wondering what top speed similar set ups are getting ( 28 skater with the new 300 XS opti´s) I hit a barrier at 110 mph and haven´t been able to go past it. Best props for that are 35X15 three blade labbed cleavers.

I believe 50-51 is the sweet spot. From what I heard at least. If Skater set the boat up, leave it there. How much have you played with motor height? Do you have adjustable plates?

I do have the adjustable jack plates and I have gone from 3/4 inches above the sponson to 1 1/2 inches above. Above this height, the motors lose water pressure ... top speed ... 110 mph.
