I have made good progress as you know it was 65 yesturday.

Mechanicaly fastened
This was a nightmare. (Cut and welded more then I wanted to.)

Driveshafts are in.
All wired up.

In a nutshell this is easier then rigging pistons.

This was alot of fun. The beer consumption was alot higher.

Wow If you were refering to the back bolts they were
a PITA.

I just ordered the pyrometers 0-1600.

Ed Manions sending me some Torque Meters also.
They are a mechanical presure gauge that reads 0-100psi
pictured below is the actual graph provided by PPS from the port engine.

KNOT-RIGHT 01-09-2008 06:15 PM

Click on the above image and it will enlarge it.

the left side is in inch pounds.
The bottom is the actual mechanical pressure output that
is read on the dash Via the torque meter.

Does anyone know the rating of a number 6 drive?
These turbines can and will create enough torque to blow
the drive off the back of the boat:hitfan:

The Menace 01-09-2008 07:32 PM

Those 6's will be groaning. The saving grace may be that they are not a direct drive to a crank shaft. The N2 is a free power unit.

I'll send you a picture of the drive shaft that snapped. looks like somebody neatly twisted it in half. If something had to fail the drive shaft is better than anything else in that drive line.

RunninHotRacing163.1 01-09-2008 07:48 PM

L@@kin good bro thnx for the pics and heads up :D:cool-smiley-011:

Here is the twisted sister.

See what happens to these toys.
Ya all should have seen the insides of them.
There were more teeth missing then a Montana
Red neck on crystal meth.:D

Well thanks to PETE at NopperMarine
There fresh and ready to be blown clean off the back
of my Boat.
Then ya call the west coast dude name Rik

Tell those f'n tranny guys that THIS IS A JOB :violent040: & then some, great work :cool-smiley-027: what route are u-on PM me if u-prefer. be sure to ck. the torque on the inside drive plates ;) again thanks for all your in-sight ! J--:cool-smiley-011:

1CE 01-09-2008 08:33 PM

Now thats some serious twisting torque force  post#297

Dry sump #6 drive factory rated input up to 1160 foot-pounds of torque.

DONZI 01-10-2008 05:24 AM

Gerry,
I would love and come and see the project in person and give ya hand also if needed.
Any plans of working on it this wk. end ? The weather looks tolerable.
Can i contact you with an E-mail addy ? I don't want to sidetrack this thread any further.

When AMF had their O.L. Turbine on the Cape i was along side with camera . What a sound and thrill to see it run !

KNOT-RIGHT 01-10-2008 08:02 PM

ICE You have a pm.

Donzi ya got mail.

Here is where Im at.

Turbines wired up to the schematic I posted.
Ran the fuel tanks down to about 10 gallons aside.(gas)
Filled some of the cars up at the lot:D
Dumped some anti gel and fresh deisel in the tanks
bout 40 gallons aside.
Purged all the lines replaced filters.
Ran all fuel lines to the Turbines and returns back to tanks.
-12 feeds -6 returns.
Adjusted regulator to 15lbs.

Ordered two 0-1600 pyrometers from Livorsi.
The ones from summit only come with 10 feet of lead.
A little small. Ya need 25 feet in this boat.
These come with 1/8npt thermo couplers
They are being installed at aprox 1.00 aclock
at the combuster outlet.

All oil lines are ran with coolers. I will be filling
the sump tanks This weekend with the Jet oil.

If the weather holds out I should be able to install the exhaust
this weekend also.

Then maybe a test spool and fire em up.
Maybe I should get a video and post it.
I just dont want to look like a bonehead if something goes wrong:hitfan:

1CE 01-10-2008 09:09 PM

G. have the pm info. super ! I'm sure u-have a ck.list, nothing is goin wrong that can't be cured, they will turn up just fine !:)

I am guessing The catch can catches maybe rain water.

Any ideas anyone?
It has hose fittings on them -4 maybe

Notice the end where they clamp to the combuster housing it
is not rigid. Springs to absorb vibrations and misalighnment.

Ron Quit..... told me To "Take this Job and Shove it"
He said to buy a real boat.

Two more mounts completed, Two to go.
The drive shaft on starboard still could be a little
straighter.
I think the tolerance fo CV assemblys is 6 degrees.
Todays high was 39 degrees.:angry-smiley-038:
