My new Skater

Just upgraded from Fountain to Skater. 32 foot with twin 950hp 800SCI's.

After a near death experience in the V-bottom I had to switch to a cat. I'm excited.

Sorry to loose you from our FOUNTAIN family, but I understand.
Enjoy your new boat. :D

I love the Fountain. Heck I still own it - 4 sale by the way 27' with a 510cu inch supercharged, but I was a rear seat passenger when someone wanted to get cute and jump wake and it hooked - threw me half way out. Puckered my tail a little.

Ryan Beckley 12-11-2007 08:33 PM

I think it was Roger Bouget's at one time.....or he had a very similar one.....

Xchoke03 12-11-2007 08:57 PM

DUDE !!!! awesome boat !!!

Best of luck, have fun and be safe !!!!

And yes, It is a SKATER NATION !!!!

apppedigree 12-11-2007 09:15 PM

Ryan - I do believe it was Rogers at one time.

Sonny - I will still be following you. It is going to take some time before I open her up. Plus your trailer is much much nicer. Ha. I am just hoping that we get some more water in the pond so I can learn to drive twins with no one around.

Yes Roger owned the boat and before that it belonged to Steve Murray.Dont be fooled a 32 with all that power can hurt you real quick,be careful and have fun it is a super fast boat.

Be cautious, careful and smart. Get some good seat time logged before you open it up. You can get hurt or thrown out of anything.

Welcome to the Skater Nation.

I use to own this boat and actually raced it for a year with the APBA in P1 class back in 1999 or 2000 with 900 HP blower motors, then sold it to Roger . This was a very fast and light weight 32 . Like they said GET some seat time in it and you will love this boat .

apppedigree 12-19-2007 05:59 PM

Skater - What did it run back then? I am definetly going to learn the ropes before opening her up. The guy I bought from has the old 36' Hoist boat. He can learn me good.

THEJOKER 12-19-2007 06:18 PM

Wait until you hit a wake in the back seat at 135 mph- haha.

apppedigree 12-19-2007 10:33 PM

I can imagine. It can get a little squirrly. However isnt the tunnel on the 32 considerably smaller than the larger ones of today? Meaning the rear wont drift as much.

1HYPER1 12-19-2007 10:47 PM

When Steve Murray owned the boat,I personally saw speeds over the 125 MPH mark.At 100 with some positive trim and a hand full of throttle,it would stand up on the drives, sweet boat and good luck.BE SAFE.:ernaehrung004:

skater 12-22-2007 08:23 AM

With Mercury 17.5 x 34 4 blade labbed props we would see ( GPS ) speeds in the mid to upper 130s , but we never set it up for a kilo run to see what the top speed really was. This 32 like most 32s DON'T like too much positive trim , so AVOID that or it will hook hard to the left .. Hot boat magazine did a big article on this boat when it was new . It was built for guy in Canada with 800 HP Mercury " class1 " fuel injected racing motors and in their test I believe it ran 131 MPH.

apppedigree 12-22-2007 01:09 PM

Thanks Skater. Why the hard hook to the left with too much trim? Also, I would love to get my hands on that old HotBoat article. Does anyone know where I can hunt one down?

apppedigree 12-23-2007 09:40 PM

Hot Boat Mag website is under construction. Does anyone have a contact there that may be able to help me find this issue? Thanks

skater 12-24-2007 09:47 AM

With a high X demension the props are already half way out of the water at high speeds and if you over trim the boat the the prop will walk on top of the water and pull the back end of the boat around . The larger the diameter of the prop the more it will walk the boat . I have been in three different 32 s and they all did it " IF " over trimmed. And if I remember right they all had 17.5 diameter 4 blade props.
As for the magazine article , I will try to dig up what issue it was in. Then I would think if you called HOTBOAT they will send you back issues.

apppedigree 12-24-2007 11:35 AM

Great. I remember reading one old issue that has Rick Hendrick's 32 in it but not this one. Let me know. Thanks.

maybe talk to TRES MARTIN about his driving school that would be perfect for you since your going from a Vee to a CAT:eureka::). IT will save you money on insurance which is high for cats. and Tres can school you on your own boat theres a lot of guys swearing by it that it has helped:D good luck and be safe. art

Good advice. Ill look into that. I know personally I like to know how to drive based on the gauges, but there is alot that you just have to "feel". I like to have all the basis covered. Also, the more that I think about it, there is no trim on the throttles or wheel. So which do you let go of when you trim, the gas or the wheel. I would think the gas, I dont think it would ever be good to let go of the wheel.

Dont let go of either , put the switch on the throttle and use your thumb .I guess if you had to you could hold the wheel with your knee for a quick second or 2:evilb:
