need a permit Big daddy , dont know where your at But we pulled to Ind ,Mich LOTO,& Ill without permits and have gotten checked out and a thumps up by the State boyz to date (knock on wood )

whats the aversion to getting a permit? It should be no big deal. In fl you just have to fill out a form online.

In CA, its $90.00 for the year.

If you are going from state to state, it can be from $9.00 to $25.00 for a 3-4 day window.

They are too cheap not to get as the ticket is way more than the permit.

I tow my 46 every summer weekend. Any boat over 8 foot 6 inches is illegal to pull without permits.
There are also different bylaws state to state.
Knock on Wood never a issue.
25 min ride to the ramp.

Do not let the with or size of a boat get in the way of

I live in NJ and boat in DE on the Chesapeake , so it would have to go over DEL Mem bridge . How much of a pain in the ass could this be ??

Depending on the amount of trailering your gonna do there is also the option of a tilt trailer.

How does the permit work- sticker on your trailer, some thing like a registration you carry with you or ____?

If it is in plain view why give them a way to pull you over? Example- your buddy left an empty beer can in the backseat fo your truck- boom, open container violation and then a circus routine to see if you have been drinking...

Fax copy either put in glove box or on the dash , when we ran chicago to cali it stated sunrise to sunset and no weekends ...:D

Also most permits are for sunrise to sunset Mon -Fri. , Sunrise til noon on Sat & Sun. No movement on Holidays....

Each state has its own rules and regulations in place.

CA for example, we can run 24/7 with exceptions for holidays and rush hour traffic areas.

If there is construction going on, you will be routed around the construction, and this might be WAY around, like 100 miles around. It's at the discretion of the state.

Other states, like Montana (avoid) you are shut down 1/2 hour before sun set and can go 1/2 hour after sunrise.

Florida there is no movement on Sundays. Same for New Mexico.

With a yearly, you get a colored map, shows the zones that allow wide load, zones that do not allow movement with wide loads, zones that require a pilot car, and zones that require two pilot cars.

Temp permits are faxed or picked up at the first scales when you enter a state.

I just drove back from new york after purchasing my 36 skater,all you need are permits to travel between the states and a year round for your state.Its simple and doesnt cost a whole lot.The total cost from ny to sc was roughly 275.00 As far as going over the bridge or tunnel stay to the right lane of the toll booths they are wider and for wide loads.I was going to tow my boat back but didnt have insurance in place and I hired a hauler to do it.Some states require a chase vehicle but I doubt you will have to.

I ramp my 46 No problem. When The water is at the
bottom of the rim on the Dually Tow vehicle it floats
right off.

The most Cable I have ever let out is at Low tide
Maybe 6 feet.

The Key is to Dunk them Deep!

Not a problem at all. We once had to pull a 40 Skater off a sandy (or it that dirt) beach (no ramp) in the Keys. It lost a tranny. My 4x4 dually was backed up as far as we dare without losing it to the sand. With the one engine running at about 3000 rpm in gear we were able to get the 40 Skater on the trailer with one guy working the hand winch real hard. It took about 10 minutes. Once the boat was on we had the boat driver keep running the boat to help push the truck off the beach. We were doing this in front of about 50 people at this little bar. They all cheered when we got it out. It was actually bizzare to watch.

If ya think about it there really is no tunge weight until the boat is about halfway on trailer.
