Weight estimates...36' with no power
Tough to size up what kind of weight I'm looking at....2003 36' skater no power on a "skater" steel trailer
Hull weight is estimated on skater's site at 3400lbs. Even with vacum bagging that seems light. Estimate on rigged boat weight minus engines? And estimate on trailer weight? How about tongue weight? It is a tri-axle but concerned the tongue weight may go way up with no engines in the back. Any thoughts? I'm going to try skater direct after the holidays, but figured I'd try here as well. |

I would think boat less power 7000-7500 depending on the fuel levels. The trailer 4-5K also depends on steel channel or tubing,I tow without power sometimes dont notice a difference.I did tow one back from California without power or drives, i added some sand bags in the engine compartment to help balance things out. Peter will have the answers!! |
Thanks HP. I'm looking to move a boat from Jersey back to Michigan so trying to have my ducks in a row before I try to go pick it up. I will be giving Peter a call for sure.
7000lb sounds more realistic. The trailer is a Skater steel trailer so about as strong, and heavy as they come so I'll go with 5k for the trailer = 12k total. My dually only has a 10k tow rating so it does look like I'm pretty maxed out. |
You'll pull it with a dually with no problem. :ernaehrung004:

Your a Skater Bro" anytime. |
I pull mine with a 6.0 liter no problem@70-75mph. The trailer would be around 2500lbs.

You should have ZERO problam with your dually, I used to pull my Cafe Racer (12 plus G's with myco trailer) up steep hills and long hauls all day long. Your good.
p.s. If you'd like to just leave it here in Jersey I'd be more than happy to keep an eye on her for you !!! |
Thanks for the replies guys. Kinda a big jump that happened over night and a bit hesitant to drive 4 states away and not have the truck work would be a pain.
My dually is a '97 GMC with the 6.5L turbo diesel, hence the lower rating. Going from a 29' Phantom to a 36' Skater is a step in the right direction I'd say! Now I just need to get a bigger truck to match! :drink:  |
My 1996 36 skater trailer weighs 4100.
