Just gotta do a fuel pump saturday(lift pump) if the parts come in, if not, oh well, it runs good once on plane, fueled up and ready to go.

TTT for ya paul, looks like seas are going to calm down by Sunday and be good for the Pantera, we'll see.

Curious , how do you like the 32 with the 300 xs ? How is acceleration ? Forgive me but is that a 32 Classic ?

Hi Paul-

Good luck with the sale .boat looked great when I saw it. Whats next? So what changes did you make that made that much of a difference.

Thanks
Don

no....

tzrider 10-20-2009 08:48 PM

The boat is awesome with the 300xs's..I had quad 2.5 ros's on it at one time and although it ran 137 on gps it was not good blow 78mph and really not a good "offshore" setup.

Don
During testing and subsequant discussions with Peter at Skater we notched the running surface which allowed us to raise the motors to 1 3\4 and maintain water pressure. We are still spinning in but have gone in a whole new direction with props and, well, lets just say it WORKS...:)

activatorf1 10-20-2009 10:10 PM

Bravo one 4 blade?

tzrider 10-20-2009 11:18 PM

Nope..Did try them awhile back in multiple configurations with negative results

rchevelle71 10-22-2009 08:16 PM

Still looking good for Sunday......

Sunday...Southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas 2 feet or less. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers and slight chance of thunderstorms.

activatorf1 10-22-2009 11:02 PM

Why does it have to be Ancient Chinese secret???

davidmercury 10-23-2009 11:19 AM

yea, why???
aren't we all skater brothers here?

tzrider 10-25-2009 10:04 PM

No secrets it's just that the worlds are a few weeks away and the props are whats being used on the race boat so I'd rather not divuldge that now.. I will say that I scalloped the bottom of the boat and raised the motors to 1 3\4 above the bottom with great results

yahoo 10-26-2009 05:33 AM

How fast is the boat ?

activatorf1 10-26-2009 08:39 AM

So your 32 b did not have the 2 ft long notch that mine and all older 32 Classics O.B were born with ?

tzrider 10-26-2009 02:38 PM

Yes I have the notch like yours however I put a scallop in the running surface. At 1 1/2 up water pressure was marginal. After talking with Peter and knowing we needed to be at 1 3/4 we made a 4 inch wide by 5 inch scallop approximately 1\4 up into the running surface. At 1 1\2 up we only had 9-11 lbs trimmed level and anything positive pressure would drop and sound the alarm. Now at 1 3\4 with the scallop I have 13-14 level and 12-13 positive. The change in height and the new props have made it a whole new boat

activatorf1 10-27-2009 10:59 AM

I take it you packed in more glass on the inside to reinforced the area you removed ?

tzrider 10-27-2009 11:10 AM

Believe me the modification was done to peters specs and professionally. If you would like photos or specifications I'd be happy to share them

activatorf1 10-27-2009 01:58 PM

It would be greatly appreciated

Airentrapment 11-02-2009 10:07 PM

Yes it would!!!

tzrider 11-03-2009 01:40 PM

I'd be happy to share some pics if someone can tell me how to post them.

bulletbob 11-03-2009 07:31 PM

Paul ,
would you please post a couple of your quad setup. I would like to see the rigging. I have a twin outboard Talon I am toying with adding a third motor. The 32A with outboards, in my opinion is the schnizzle! We met briefly at the 03 Worlds. I was on the Harley with my g-friend. You and Gary got us in the pits with the bike. Good luck racing! Bob

outriggers 11-03-2009 11:02 PM

I don't know it worked with quad 2.5's but it sure looked bad azz. Doug

tzrider 11-04-2009 08:33 AM

Bob
No problem, hope to see you at the worlds again!.. If you forward me your e-mail I'll send what pics I have of the quad setup.

Doug
The Boat with quads was great on a large lake or bay but not in the ocean. Below 82mph the two center engines acted as a dam and prevented the air in the tunnel from passing, something you could really feel. Above 82 the air would finally blow through and the boat would start packing and the acceleration would set you back. All that being said the current set-up with the twin 300xs's is a much much better boat and worlds more enjoyable. When an 18 time champion says it is " the most forgiving boat" he's ever been in then I guess we went in the right direction

davidmercury 11-05-2009 03:51 PM

Paul,
I would sure appreciate knowing your prop diameter and pitch when you were running the quad set up.
Also, engine height and what direction did you turn the props to get best top speed.
Thanks

tzrider 11-05-2009 04:56 PM

David
I turned 15x32 3 blades.. center motors had inward rotation and outside motors had outward rotation. The outside motors were 1 1\4 up and the centers were 5\8 higher. Actually an odd setup as one would think the centers would be much higher.. If someone can tell me how to post a picture I'll post a few

Paul

Paul,
Using 15X32's surprises me. Did you ever try 34's?
What rpm were your turnin with those 32's?

tzrider 11-07-2009 09:31 AM

David
My apologies, I just looked at an old pic I had of the props, they were in fact 15x34's

davidmercury 11-09-2009 05:25 PM

paul,
Thanks,
would you by chance have the throttle shifter controls from the quad set up leftover to sell?

tzrider 11-10-2009 08:24 AM

David
I don't have the throttles\shifters as I split them into two sets. I do however have the wing plates and tie bars, fuel surge tanks and various other bits

davidmercury 11-11-2009 04:21 PM

Paul,
Please let me know how much for the wing plates and tie bars and other bits.
Do you by chance have the water pickup manifold?
Thanks
