When I took mine up the first thing they checked was inside the tunnel on the vertical walls of the sponsons. They said if the damage was severe you would see waves there.

I had fuel pressure issues and amber flakes in the fuel filter. They actually blocked the 90* fitting on the fuel pickup tube out of the tank!

I had my tanks done @ Skater 3 yrs ago.My tanks have baffles and are now 70 gal ea. ( they were originally 135gal a side for endurance racing) Peter also installed the aluminum backing plate to the inspection lids.I had the tanks done before any problems.

Had a broker tell me that it depends on the type of construction used , not the year . Can anyone else confirm this on here ? He said it was a problem with epoxy boats , not all boats .

Type of construction typically = year. ;)

The general rule of thumb I've been going by with Skaters is anything from 1990 to 2006 should be highly suspect.

BTW, many brokers tend to like to tell you what you like to hear. :grinser010:

Fo sho my vinylester tanks have had no issues and I almost always run ethanol. Though I don't let it sit in my boat for very long

Bingo and yes Vinyl tanks are ok but seeing that the new age of fuels are coming into play and seeing that your boat is Epoxy you will need to make the change by cutting out the baffles and lids using the same materials that Skater uses which Mr fixall posted in your thread on what type of resin to use in the fiberglass section http://www.donzi.net/forums/showthread.php?t=60195 that OFFSHORE GINGER -did .

hey guy the broker is somewhat right and it is mostly based on the type of resin that was used in the construction of the build of the boat depending on .......... if the build was Epoxy or Vinyl because Ethanol is a solvent and will eat away at the Epoxy and the 32 that OFFSHORE GINGER - did on the old Don Q Rum he charged 7 k with the same warrenty that Skater offers . Hey guy's i would just like to mention that are Politicans and Lobbyists are trying to push for a higher Ethanol content in all fuels and to tell you the truth it can truly effect us all in the marine industry and the people who own high performance boats .

gas tanks

If you buy any Skater regardless of year and don't call Skater and check to see if the tanks are done......you have lost your mind. I don't care if it is a broker or private seller get the information from the horses mouth.
