prop rotation

I am turning my props out on my 28 , is there any benefit to turning them inward? most have told me to keep them out.

Engine height? Type of props?

My 28 was a little "flighty" with props turning "in" with 2.5's. With the 300 xs the boat rode a lot better turning in versus out.It carries the bow well in calm or rough water, the ride is smoother and a little faster :drink:

Biggest benefit is it's easier to get wet turning in:lolhit: I have 300X's turning in on my current 28. On my old 28 I ran out on my 2.5 ROS's but ran them in at the shootout at LOTO. Supposedly you get more speed running in. I liked them turning out when running rough water. The blades turning out help stabilize the hull when landing on your side. That being said. I have run them in on my current 28 and have run in some real rough this year without any problems.

There was a big thread by some older racers who said any increase in speed was negated by a loss of stability. I can't say that I agree either way now after this summer running in.

On my 28 turning the props in freed the boat up to the point of loose. It may have been faster if you could hang on, but I never got to the speed it ran turning out.

Baja555........Every boat is very different. There is NO perfect combo. Just go with what is safe and makes your 28 happy.
Turning in is a good start........Chris

thanks guys. I like the way it handles now so, I'll probably keep it that way

My 30 came from the factory turning out.

We raised the motors, switched to turning in, went to Throttle-UP 4 blade, cnc, cleaver props, and the boat is faster,
plus I personally like a 'looser' feel, so for me, it is a good setup.

Frank is right, although he is a Boat Racer and likes his boats a bit on the "loosie" side ! Call me Bud.............
