Sorry for the strong bump, however I was curious to know if there's any updates on this boat as to what and where it is these days. Aweosme build to say the least. I'm also wonder what its power output was with the boost turned up which will in turn put those # 6's to the test...
This was at the LOTO Shootout 2011 with 1.1 gears and 38 pitch props only turning 5800 rpm through the speed traps. Once he got forged props he hasn't had any blades break. The boat has roughly 120 hours on it now and the #6 drives are holding up great. The motors make 1600 @ 13psi and believe me thats all a 388 needs! Planning on hitting the LOTO Shootout this year with a better one mile setup. |

Looks and sounds great. As for the power vs the drives I find it funny most big power boats making upwards of 1400+ hp use the SSM 6 drive and have little or no issues, yet when Mercury was testing the 1350 TT package they kept breaking them, hence the developement of the stronger, thicker M8 drive.
Anyways, great run, just another 22 mph needed to get Chip Romer's record... :D |
