Attention!!!Outboard Skaters
Anyone who owns an outboard Skater.....If you want to go Fast and Reliable.....go to STR Racing. Shaun Torrente!! I have owned several performance boats over the past 24 yrs.I have been to several shops/ boat mechanics,Never have I been so pleased with a shop than I have with STR Racing!!! Shaun has done things to my motors and drives that No one ever even mentioned! Not only did he fix my drive problems,he has re rigged my Skater the Right Way!! He has completed a 2 page list of "to do" items I gave him and several engine Mods, all in TWO weeks. He has done more in two weeks than my previous shop did in a YEAR!! When I took my Skater to him it ran 105.....Now it runs 115 with 300XS. I have enjoyed working with him so much I just kept expanding the list:drink: What better person to work on a Skater than a Fellow 28 Skater Owner!! I Highly Recommend Shaun Torrente of STR Racing!!!!!

So the obvious question, at least to me, is how the heck do I get in touch with him, I've tried google etc but can't find anything but his racing blog. Does he have a website etc? I've heard good things about his motors and would like to learn more but hate to have to call him and talk his ear off for the common questions like what does he do other than motor magic, not that I don't believe in the blue smoke but...

I think Shaun (STR) just added some more value to all of those 28 SKaters for sale out there bravo:drink:

I would think that almost two years later you shoud have those pictures, right?

this isn't the first time I've heard rave reviews about him. are the engine mods done in house? I'd love to see you're skater if you can, post a few pics. Running Dewald props?
|
Web site?

well one of my 2.5's is in need of over haul or I may just go ahead and start a total re-rig with 300xs's...got the bad news yesterday. Had a local very reputable mechanic look into my steeling issue and due a quick check on the outboards while they were in there. He found my flywheel had just started to drag a little on the stator so its either a complete rebuild or just go ahead with the re-rig which is what I had intended to do eventually anyway. Maybe str will get a call from me now LOL.

My 28Skater is back at STR Racing now,....been a few years...down for some maintenance and Dialing In...Shaun is more than an eng. Mechanic...he is a Skater Guru when it comes to set up and Dialing in.I tow my Skater 660miles ea way from Atl to Ft.Myers.....just to have Shaun maintain and dial it in......that Alone ,should tell you something.....

i will definitely keep him in mind.
fortunately we found that my 2.5 flywheel bolts had loosened up damaging the flywheel...but that was much better than a broken crank:eekdrop: so hopefully I'll be good for the rest of the boating season. still not sure on how radical I'm gonna get with my re-rig...prolly as far as my wallet will allow:lolhit: |

It has been out for 6 years now and I have to think that in the last 6 years merc has figured out a way to get a little more power out of that motor or at least turn more rpm. With the quad cam turbo motors and then the 565 the inboards have got a lot of attention over the last few years, I say it's time to give us outboard guys something to get excited about. |
We can only hope about a new outboard but don't hold your breath!!!!!
|
I just seems different than many other markets where as we make new improvements in engine technology we gain more power and efficiency. I'm assuming it is because of the lack of demand but part of me feels an outboard that makes 350 hp, weighs under 500 lbs, turns higher rpm than standard motors, and has a gear case that last would sell for $25K?
|
I doubt a new high performance 2 stroke is any where close....

the thought has crossed my mind that something new would be coming at some point but I don't think it'll be 2 stroke...with all the regulations my money is on a light weight 4 stroke high performance model...400hp would be sweet |
