Need help, skater 28 lift or not lit.
HI,
I have some questions about my boat skater 28! Today there are no lifts on the boat Thinking of buying detwiler jack plates Hydraulic, my question is. Will there be more speed to mount on Hydraulic Lift? How big setback need be? 4 "or 6" or 8 "Which is best? Or is it an unnecessary cost to buy Hydraulic lift? please help me. :) |
The most common set backs are 5-6 inch. Most run manual as once you dial in the engine height you do not need to lower the motors. I run 3 inch on mine. Wanted to keep better balance with all the weight on back. The are R+R powdercoated black. Stainless Marine makes hydraulic ones. Problem is you will always be trying to get them the same height. I would use manual ones. Just my two cents.

okay, maybe it's better to buy the manual? Do you think the boat run faster with a manual lift, against what I have today? Or do you think it is unnecessary to purchase lifts?
If i run 100 mph today without lifts, do you think i can run 105 whit manual lift? for examples.. What do you recommend? 4 "or 6" Setback manual? Can there be too much setback on skater? |
Is it 3 inch as a skater 28 is best,? both in terms of speed and stable?
|
Manual, 5.5 inch, cooks (CMC), on ours. Propshaft centers 1.625" above bottom of boat.
|
If I mount on Hydraulic, would not the boat go faster in flat mode?
