I know PLENTY of people with boats ....none with OS stuff ... and NONE of them have insurance and have never had the need for it. It is diff here in this line of boating ? ... then 'SPLAIN yourself ...I will listen.

How much do you spend on fuel during a busy weekend? ... and what are the insurance costs ? ....and how many have had claims? ...and what for?

2-800 bucks every time I go out in gas. Insurance is a must for you and passengers. Also if you hit someone or something else. Cat insurance is expensive.

Call one of the insurance co listed on OSO, tell them your experience with your hydrostream, you want a 140 mph Skater.....let us know how it goes:grinser010: Ins rates depend on boat,speed,your experience ect..My 28 outboard Skater does not burn much, 30gals+ hr going 90mph.....$150hr fuel and $40 in oil so $190 hr(I usually run 4 hrs+ in2days on the water so about $800 in a weekend......won't find that with a Most offshore boats especially one with twin blower Motors.I have 24yrs experience Owning and operating Offshore boats(9 with Skater), Coast Guard Licensed Captain, $2,800 yr for ins.

Honestly, if you're not able to deal with the $1200 for a weekend in fuel cost (never mind the greater expense of everything else) and aren't kidding about not carrying insurance with the proposed offshore, you really, really shouldn't even be considering this purchase... no joke.

You wonder why folks are all over you? There has been some good advice in this thread so far, by people who KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT, you just don't seem to want the help or even listen. Running around without insurance and the proper experience is very much looked down upon, and that is understandable, simply because it is reckless and stupid. Then you make it a point in an argument, that you boat with several others that don't have insurance as well, like that will make it allright. Just because they haven't had an accident, yet, does not mean you won't. What are you going to do if you wreck, maybe damaging 500k+ worth of boats at a PR + maybe injuring or killing someone when it happens? You think you can just sell more shares and pay for it that way? WRONG!!!

A few months ago I was quoted $3000 on a Motion @ 110mph.17yrs high perf V hull experience, no claims, good credit and perfect driving record. 6mo lay up.

Call stacey at wakezone. She has a program and they will insure just about anyone. If you have no prior cat experience it doesn't matter wether the boat rubs 100 or 150, you are put into the same group. She said they will insure just about anyone as long as you take the tres Martin course. Now for cost she said to figure about $4k a year for every $100k worth of boat your insuring. So a $100k boat would be about $4k a year, a $200k boat would be $8k and so on....

Hmmm, good thing you got a vee bottom Adam! Thats a pretty steep insurance payment. :drink:
