Do the short Skaters (under 28') pack air in the tunnel?

Absolutely!!

why wouldn't they? my 28 and 30 both burp/hop a little till you get em moving good.

I can see the 30 having a big enough tunnel but less than that I just wondered if it wasn't just a light little boat being pushed instead of the boat lifting.

I'm no engineer mind you LOL just smaller version of what you run. the 24's pack air too... now the vintage 18's I wouldn't know LOL.

They have to obtain a certain speed to pack air. Mine isn't "packed" until 80. Between 70 and 80 its packing and gets a little hoppy. At 80 she's smooth and you can feel it gliding.

What speed to the 28 and unders pack?

You also have to keep in mind that 24's and 28's with outboards weigh about half as much as the bigger inboard skaters. The 24's & 28's start to pack air and hop a little around 60

the 30 is much like the 28...bout 60 -70 then she's running smooth... I've found both of these are sensitive to load. all of us OB guys want more HP from one of the manufactures! I think I would be happy with 350 a side with the same weight of the 300xs'...at least for a few weeks anyway :lolhit:
