32B notched or not notched
I am new to Skaters. I just learned that some 32s were built with a notched transom. Is there any significant difference between the notched transom and the non notched transom on the 32B? Handling? Speed? Etc. What years were the transoms notched?
Thanks |
.
some cats that will receive ASD drives will have their notch transom factory-filled-in http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...ml#post4032908 http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/...kater/33BB.jpg |

A notched transom helps carry the bow - which is typically just the outboard cats that are light in the transom. Proof of this is that the 28 and 30 molds have the notch built into the mold, as these were designed as outboard hulls. As Raymo stated, the few 32/36 Skaters built with Bravo drives have a notched transom - as the bravo drives weigh half of what the #IV drives weigh. And yes, even though Arneson drives are as light as Bravos, they need the transom square to mount the drives low enough to get the prop in the water!

I have notched on my Bravo 32 B. My boat was a number 6 boat. When I bought the boat from Pete he said it needed the notch and it was part of the purchase. I added the Skater 40 SS tabs. I can fill the notch (with tab) or pick it up. It accelerates and is faster overall with tabs up. Longer feeling and more stable with tabs down (even with the bottom is max tab deployment)
