Skater 28 Wind Deflectors
6 Attachment(s)
Here is what I came up with for what I wanted to protect me from the wind in my 28. They do a great job of getting the wind off your face/ears at 100+ mph, and you still have the full functionality of a true open cockpit boat (sit on the sides at rest, get up over the dash easily to get on the deck, still a nice breeze to keep you cool while idling in the heat, etc.). I bought a set of cut-down wind deflectors from Finneys (mine are 6" tall - standard are 8" tall) and had a local fabricator build the fixtures and install everything. They're not near as easy to make as you would think, as nothing is straight on the dash and both the fixtures and the Lexan have hours of handwork involved to make them fit perfectly. Anyway, I'm really happy with how they turned out. The only thing I'm having changed right now is the way the Lexan mounts to the fixtures - I'm getting rid of the large washers and just going with the countersunk screws directly into the Lexan so you don't see the washers sticking out past the fixtures from the backside (this required new Lexan deflectors). A small detail, but I want them perfect...........
