They had actually dropped the motors down an 1/8 of an inch. It ran better. Don't ask me how I wasn't there. Water was 2 to 3 foot the 110 day and better conditions when they ran the 114mph. Again I wasn't there. Thats all I know. Actually looks like the motors are running in the 110 and no Rpms showing in the 114 pic. Could have just killed the motors.

The screen you are referencing appears to me to be the max performance page which gives the max speed and RPM at that speed. Like a tattle tale on the speedo but smarter! If I'm wrong let me know. My VV7s are not connected to my GPS yet so I do not get th speed range and slip data that are possible with this instrument.

From my calculations they have dropped prop slip from 9% at 110 to 8% at 114. That is a damn good number for an initial set up on a new boat.....

Not that I am a skeptic but in theory I agree with Sam lowering slip would produce more speed. However how do you lower motors, lower slip which in turn means more bite with the props and that would result in lower RPM's not higher???? . In all my days of testing I have never lowered motors and picked up RPM's. Now if they ran a different pitch prop or another set all bets are off. :readinghelp: Guess we may never know what goes on there!

I'd be willing to bet water conditions had more of an effect. With a little calmer conditions, the boat was able to take a better set and let the props get more efficient.

You can bet Im gonna be there next time for sure. Hopefully they can get another inch of pitch on the props and bring the revs back up once the ramps are cut in and the drives get back up higher again. Cant wait. Should be ten days or so.

Probably were able to trim up a little more bringing the bow up to a better attitude and less sponson drag and at the same time able to have less slip at the props . RPM s and speed went up.

Well Boys, Going out to Skater on Monday morning. See the facilities on Tuesday morning and head over to Mercury. Finish cutting in water ramps and see what happens. Testing Bravo 34 and 35 pitch props. Don't know how high the motors will end up but water pressure will not be a problem. Hoping for something good. We will see. Not sure if it will get over the 114mph we saw already with the 5 blades but you never know till you try. They definitely know what they are doing. will be very interesting. Stay tuned. Steve.

Steve, see who's taking the notes on the testing and see if you can get copied. Interesting stuff. I would like to see how Merc tracks the results.

Well guys was looking a little iffy whether I was gonna make it to Skater this week with the Hurricane barreling up the coast and all. Last time this happened with Sandy I had 10 inches of water in my house and took me 6 months and a total renovation to get back in. Hopefully this one keeps turning out to sea. Gonna leave early Monday morning and get in Monday night. May be there til Friday. Have a lot going on. Testing the new Bravo props they made just for this occasion. Depending on how they work I may come home with the 33 inch 5 blade Prototypes they ran the 114 mph with. They will have them there and will show me those numbers at some point before we leave with the boat and go back to Skater. Also have a photo shoot going on one day before I leave. Should be lots of fun. Wish we had more time but its getting cold out and thats not fun. Steve.
