Lower Unit Water Flow 308 Skater
Here's a video of taken of my lower unit with a pair of 29p 4 blade Herings bravo style. Wind was blowing solid 20kts gusting 25kts in the Okeechobee waterway out of the NE. Could not run it all the way out. Boat was blowing all around on top. Was a fight at 100mph to keep it in middle.
Solid 1' Chop. Not sure if the turbulence is from the chop of the hull pick ups? Got more things to investigate. Comments? http://youtu.be/_5OPGRko2z4 |
Power definitely sounds Great!
|
Just my opinion. But there is minimal turbulence in the tunnel.
|
Agree, not much turbulence ! Ron, your boat is "rock'n"! Great footage. How high are you running your cases with the thru hull PU's?
|
Motors are at 2 1/8". I also made a few runs with my 5 blade Dewalds but could not top them out. I feel that based on the amount of throttle left if the conditions were better the boat would have run 105-106 easily.
For comparison used same load conditions as last time w/3 people, 60 gallons fuel, cooler and tools. Going to raise the motors again another 1/4 inch and keep going until it slows down. Also plan on changing the rotation to out to see how she reacts too. We have a long list of things left to do to dial it in. May need to borrow your props LOL! I feel 108-110 is in cards for an every day speed down here. Just got to keep working at it. |
Just let me know! Way too cold for boating in OK! Can't wait to hear more! Love the RPM/MPH and course graphics on your video as well. Good work, Ron!
|
I see you are having mid 70 temps, but still 79% humidity. You need some of that magic air.
|
I hear ya Chris! Just want to be ready and have big props on hand. Would love to have it break into the teens.
Boat has been 112 once up in NC light on a cold day but not the engine height we will be able achieve. So in theory who knows what it can run. |
I've got a set of vented 34" Bravo 1's with cut diffusers if you think you can turn them. Shipping would be about $60 for a test. I'm not selling them, but would send them to you if you want to try them.
|
Ron did you shoot that video with your VIRB. If so how did you connect to the garmin to get the engine data?
Looking good. Even at 2 1/8" the nose cone sure looks to be getting plenty of water but we know it's not. We need to shoot that angle of mine this spring and compare turbulence without the Low water pickups. |
Ron have you done anymore testing, of your drive height
|
No hopeful for this weekend. Last weekend was a bit chilly and windy. Us S. FL boys cant take the cold.
