Despite it is probably not around anymore Ive heard people were quoted approx $80,000.00 for the new motors and rigging. Minus what you could get for the old motors. A guess but would probably run between 115 and 120mph depending on how much you are willing to spend on props.

I am in the process of doing it now I will let you know the final price when i am done. Budget 70,000
|
if you are doing it yourself I think you are good. getting someone else to do it???... I broke some fillings clinching my teeth doing the math... I should probably call skate and make an appointment LOL.

No disrespect intended for Sam. I was referring to the fact that a guy that would cut up a perfectly good Skater and make it better may not be the guy to guide one on a budget Skater restoration.:picard1:
As for the rest of you gentlemen before we start our twelve step program we must all admit we have a Skater problem. You go first! |

$ 25 to 27 k a piece at this place " so call it $ 60 k max out the door for 2 motor's , I wouldn't think anything more then $ 5 k max to install and rig and that would be a lot unless other things had to be done like making transom stronger ect,

Not so quick Grasshopper. You have to buy new steering props and flyby wire shifters. Then tie bar and Jack plates to handle the extra weight. It is never as cheap as you estimate it to be. Trust me I know!

Not to mention a new wire harnesses depending on what you have also for the DTS. And if you want a nice heavy duty steering pump from Latham instead of the lightweight weak mercury one add another $2500.00 dollars to the mix. I would figure add another $15k to the price of the motors. Trust me I have already done the spreadsheet.
Did I mention extended warranties for another 9k????? |
As noted, it's not a simple engine swap. More than the engine cost for sure, and wiring for drive by wire/DTS controls, can add up.
