I wasnt there Ron got to run my boat before me. Yes it had 300xs before and ran about 100 on good days, 95 with people and fuel ect. It runs much faster now we have just started to test but i will say it was worth the money. I will let you know speeds when we finish dialing it in. Again ron knows more than me from driving the boat. Picking it up next week and coming back to NY.

Looked great. Thanks for posting and sharing the video

Thanks, Ron! You do more than anyone on this site to promote our O/B habit! :D

It carries the weight very well, looks excellent, congratulations.

Maritime_Eng 05-06-2016 01:15 PM

Very Interesting..... I will be very curious to see what the actual difference is between the 300xs and these 400's in Speed, Handling, Fuel Burn, ect....

Please keep us updated on the progress. Did they move any weight around in the boat when they did the re-rig?

Looks great for first time out. Props, RPM..etc??

The sound of these 400s is starting to grow on me. :D

precisiondetails 05-06-2016 06:05 PM

Can't wait to hear the speed difference.

Double Rigged 05-06-2016 07:51 PM

I have to say the boat drove really nice. The electronic throttle shifts and power steering is awesome.
As Bill said for those who are honest with the speeds 308's run with 300xs's or any other cat. I can tell you it is worth it. You cannot compare the two.
He has a good plan. It will be a runner.

Looks like I have some work to do on my set up.:boat:

Hey Ron, Glad you liked the motors. Is this the first 400 Boat you have driven. I have the Mercury Shifters in mine and think they work great. Love the electronic shift and throttles. They're so smooth. Great video and thanx for posting it. I have been talking to Billy on the phone for months now. He's a great person and a wealth of knowledge. Gonna run up to see him this Summer. He's only about an hour and a half from me by boat. Im so happy he finally got this done. I think he'll love it. Steve.

Double Rigged 05-06-2016 08:30 PM

Yes and no. It is the first cat but I have been on some CC with them.

Equalizer 05-07-2016 08:33 PM

I am picking up the boat next week. Excited to run the verado motors, smooth with no stories or problems. I will start testing new props, and other ideas.

Sounds like you'll be making the switch to 400r soon.

SS930 05-09-2016 02:45 PM

Ron, what were your thoughts regarding the balance and attitude of the boat with the heavier 400's on it vs the 300's? It's hard to really tell by watching the video and not knowing how the boat is trimmed out, but it does look like the stern sits fairly low at idle and bow is being carried fairly high while at speed. With that said, it looks fast in those calm conditions!

LAriverratt 05-10-2016 06:09 AM

nice! discussed this swap with someone over the weekend . not sure if its worth it on mine just yet. you can be the guinea pig LOL.

try any ballast yet...did you do any weight distribution during rigging like ron and sam's?

you have 4 rear seating??? did you widen your cockpit?

skate 06-01-2016 08:42 PM

Which Jack plates did you use? Do they have indicators?

Equalizer 06-02-2016 08:06 PM

I have 4" hydrolic plates. Sorry I have been so quiet work is killing me, I am in a seasonal business. I have just started testing, props drive height weight in the nose, prop rotation, ect. I will tell you i dont care how fast a 400r boat is these motors make the boating experience unbelievable. You cant compare to any 2strokes to these motors. With all that being said with the wrong props 31.5 dewald the motors are on the rev limiter, we have new props coming tomorrow. As of now the boat runs 13 mph faster than my 300xs motors, and weight doesn't seem to change speed that much. The smallest changes are making mph differences, I still have a lot to figure out. Let you know on Sunday what top speeds we see, Rons boat is killing me. LOL

Spoke to you earlier Eq, Got the props off my rig and shined up real nice. Back in boxes and ready to be driven to you tomorrow. Cant wait to hear how you like them. Talk to you soon. You know your not gonna be able to wait til Sunday to run them.

AZMIDLYF 06-03-2016 12:05 AM

What diameter props are these 400Rs liking?

My best so far are the Merc Cleavers and they are 15 diameter. I have a set coming from Dewald that are 15.25 and thats as big as he can make them. We ran all sorts of other Merc props while the boat was at Mercury and nothing ran very well compared to the cleavers. Im not sure of their Diameters. The first set of cleavers were 14.5 dia and Merc decided to make them with 15 dia instead.

Nastybug 06-03-2016 08:58 PM

Well guys I drove my Dewald props up to Billy today. We met half way on the NJ Turnpike. Cant wait to hear how he does with them.

Equalizer 06-03-2016 09:20 PM

Steve thanks again. Hope they work.
