I have a 1997 28 here at my shop
boat has very low usage on it as it went through a few hands sitting up starboard tank was going bad as why sat up for yrs with no motors on it all original gel and paint on this boat bottom is in great shape with no scratches hull has not been worked on before me recieving interior in good condition with no tears I have cut out the whole floor as had soft core from from the allun angles screwed to floor in places to hold console, seats, interior and water getting in from the screws and cut out the tanks and had custom allunimum tanks made for it anal enough to have had made to use the original skater pu/sender plates went through complete hull on checking coring and found soft coring in an area in front of the port tank sponsom when I am done with the repairs,,,will stand behind there is no bad coring ,new floor and tanks as I have miffco glass and have built many cored race boats and repaired many skaters this is a nice fully rigged hull that bolt on motors and go if want to I bought it for myself and have another boat I am to take my motors off to use money talks as I don't care which boat I keep boat will be finished in next 2-3 weeks is wrapped with plastic during repairs so will gladly send pics of tanks and boat when uncover my labor/materials for this repair would be 20k if was for a customer will sale complete rigged boat for 30k when finished and have a hull that is rigid and no tank leaks to worry about for a good starting point if going to repaint and upgrade int |
Is this the boat that was in MN that the guy bought for 10K? I heard that one went to TX. If so, there are threads on that boat when it was on Craigslist for sale. I believe it had 2.5's on it and a trailer with 13" wheels and home made bunks. That seller was not very honest in his misleading description.

yes boat came from Michigan on a brand new pontoon trailer
I was part of them threads as knew the boat background and was working hard to get this hull guy let it sit up for a while tarped over and water got on the floor and this boat had no floor drain in it no where,,,,,,, water seaped into all the screws skater used to screw angle allum to floor to hold all the interior and console and a portion of the left sponsom has wet core also from the water standing in it ,,,water will find any pin hole to go in water got there from coming through the gas tank vent acess cover on the floor and with boat sitting level water could not drain over the step in front of the tank so water found a pinhole in that little area that held a little area of water next guy bought it and put on 280s and found had a bad starboard tank sold it to mich guy and mich guy got messed over and could not afford to have fixed so my bud got the 280s and I got the hull didn't sale for 10k,,,,as know pair of 280s are worth min 20k to 25 the boat hull itself is real nice on the bottom with no scratches or been beached bildge is clean and all original and nice interior is nice it just got trailor abused cause of the tank as I stated its a good hull with no patches or gouges on it just replace tanks,,,lay a new floor and replacing the wet core in left to have a excellent hull to do a resto on as we all know these core hulls go bad in time or if get wet hit a log and blow a hole in it,ect and there is quite a few out there been riden hard and put up wet aswhy I wanted this 1,,,, was not beat up on the water,,,was abused on a trailer with no way for water to drain it did very well to only have soft sopt on the floor by the screw holes and 1 area on sponsom beside the tank issues all the skater have in time the floor would have never gotten wet if it had a drain to the bilge and guarantee I will have em when put it back together as a glass guy I grabbed it as great starting point as hull itself is nice and original never busted or patched when im done I like allun tanks more for never having to worry will have a all new floor and 100% rigid coring to give lots of yrs of use I bought the hull for myself as its time for another resto I like the 27 I have now but ran it for 2 yrs so ready for another build and have no problem or scare to do all new upgrades on it when get hull back rigid as I went over every inch of the core and all is solid and dry but the 1 spot in front of tank and have already cut it out past anything moist to replace back properly I have a shop and and don't cut any corners and fully disclose everything have built many boat hulls since 1982 and lots of offshore repairs and mods I have another 24 in here now and another 28 coming 1nce the 24 leaves so been into a few skater through time john |
