Can't wait to see a 28 with 400s. Saw that the 368 with ROS will be in the water very soon.

Saw that the 368 did 115 MPH at 7000 RPM right out of the box....don't these 400's have a break-in period?

Being it's the ROS which is a race only motor I'm not sure they need much break in. Just a guess...

My understanding is the power heads are the same as the consumer units. Any comment on break-in from current 400 owners?

I thought the same about the power heads being similar but then you don't hear about XCAT boats needing a break in.

Info on Verado break in:
For the first (2) hours of operation, run the engine at varied throttle settings up to 4500 RPM or 3/4-throttle. During this time, run the engine at wide open throttle for one minute every ten minutes. For the next (8) hours of operation, avoid continuous operation at wide open throttle for more than five minutes at a time. This can be found in page 54 of the Operator's Manual. Also, Mercury at the factory does NOT perform any kind of break-in procedures on their motors prior to shipment, and normally, boatbuilders and dealers do not either. Mercury techs do not hook computers up to Verados and break them in or "tune" them for two hour windows, and dealers are not required to run them for an additional period of time after that. Bottom line . . . it is up to the consumer to properly break in their motors. If a certain dealer chooses to put a couple of hours on the boat package prior to delivery, that is up to the dealer. It is not Mercury-mandated.

Any thoughts of the owner letting you run a build thread on here?
